Recycle Reduce Reuse!

So as some of you know I LOVE MINI ALBUMS! I love everything about them! The chunkiness. The detail. the interaction....all of it! So, I have  planned out a huge mini album project for gifts this year (family members, don't pay any attention to that!) At the same time I an very big in recycling. I have seen many videos on YouTube about making mini albums with recycled products ranging from toilet paper tubes to making your own paper from plastic grocery bags. So I have decided to combine the two! I saved all the useful packaging from my son's birthday presents, a bunch of soda pop tops,  some TP tubes and what not.  And with the start of this collection I have made a pretty huge pile. I today I decided to sit down and start breaking everything down into use able parts. Here I am, sitting on the living room floor with a pile of boxes on one side of me, a pile of pieces on the other side and The Cooking Network going. And then it hits me (thanks to Hubby). With the way some of the boxes are designed you get an instant mini book binding with a little trimming! So I am in the process of putting together a mini album multi-part tutorial series for my blog and YouTube on how to design a mini album like this. I will luckily have many examples to show because of the list of mini albums I want to make. Lots of trial and error will be happening this week :)

Birthday party crazyness!

Ladies and gentleman,
I am pleased to inform you that I survived two 2 yo birthday parties in less then a week! Yes, 2! My youngster's was first. I made ALL the decorations and party favors myself! They came out super cute too. Don;t know if I will be doing any more Cho cho trains any time soon but it was awesome! On top of making the decor I made the cake and potato salad. Party was awesome. Hit a couple road bumps but it was perfect. Kids had a blast.

The second was my niece's party 6 days later. In that 6 days I knit 2 of Rebecca Danger's  monsters from her book "The Big Book of Knitted Monsters"! Yes, 2! One for my son, one for my niece. And they came out pretty stinking adorable! Both kiddos love them! Planning on making 3 more for birhtdays this year. I love her knitting patters. They are so easy to follow and make.

I'm back and ready for action!

Hello everyone! Yes, I am still alive! So much has gone on in the last few months that even FB has become a foreign land to me. We made it back to Tucson safely, thank goodness. A few bumps in the road but we are all here. We were fortunate enough to get jobs right away and move into our own place. A huge Thank You to Mom for letting us stay with you! I know I must not have been easy for you but we are still very appreciative. And to Mikki for helping with those bumps, and my dad for dealing with our boxes :) You all rock! Kids are doing great, J starts school in August! My in-laws are coming to visit in October. Lots of crafting to do between now and then. K has hit the 2s stage of his life. We are working on communication and talking with him. N and I are as wonderful as ever. We are really happy to be back in Tucson. I do miss Portland and cant wait to visit tho. Maybe in 2013 for Sock Summit! In a nut shell: Things have settled down and I am ready to pop back up on the grid. So jump on the wagon cause here we gooooooo!

Now down to Business! I HAVE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL! Check it out. I am uploading my first mini album video as I type. It takes forever but will be very worth it. I will upload it here as well for you all to see. I am ready to take Lilly Pad Crafts and fly with it. Mini albums and mini kits will be the first on the market, as well as classes for my local crafters! I am hoping to get into the Winter 4th Ave Street Fair this year with a booth, and will be getting a little more savvy on this blog thing (maybe a "Blogs For Dummies" book is in order!) Also, I will be adding a Facebook Like page for Lilly Pad Crafts with updates on videos, blog entries, etc....so once that is up I will post a link :)

I hope everyone has a fun and safe St. Patty's day!

Happy Crafting!
